Dear friends and partners,
Reflecting on the past year, we’ve remained steadfast in our commitment to building an LA Unified where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Even as our communities faced unprecedented challenges from the devastating wildfires and threats from an unpredictable Federal administration, we came together with urgency and resilience to support our students, staff, and schools. Through continued investments in modern, climate-resilient learning environments, expanded access to high-quality academic and enrichment opportunities, and a deepened focus on student wellbeing, we are laying the groundwork for a stronger, more equitable future. Read on for a closer look at this year’s progress toward our shared goals.

Wildfire Recovery
This year, the Palisades and Altadena communities endured some of the most devastating wildfires in modern history—with the path of destruction including three of our Palisades school communities. The District responded quickly to ensure student and staff safety, and continues to support the affected community while planning for the future.
Priorities in Progress
Check out our efforts over the past year to create innovative learning environments, promote academic success, meet the needs of our families, and support the wellbeing of our students.
Creating Cell Phone-Free Schools
Accelerating Academic Achievement
As LA Unified continues working to accelerate academic achievement for all students, this year, we saw gains in both Math and Reading across almost every age and sub-group. By investing in free tutoring programs, expanded early education options, interventions at high-need schools, and attendance initiatives, we are driving progress for our kids to learn and thrive in our schools. While our work continues, we celebrate the outstanding educators, administrators, school staff, and students who were recognized for their hard work and achievements this year!
